Somehow, somewhere, someone decided that doing something for reasons other than making a profit was a noble reason to do things.
Educating our kids, mankind, the world is also a higher calling.
By logic - educating with no regard for whether there was money left over must be the noblest of all callings...provided there was enough money do so.
University presidents and professors spent time lunching, dining and receiving potential givers, doners sounds better, but it's the same. This time spent meant that both sides were giving - time and money. And giving ranks up there with educating and not trying to make money.
But, then university administrators spent hours over weeks in budget meetings talking about downsizing, cutting back (not THEIR salaries, however) and even laying off.
These people did their darndest to have revenues exceed expenditures....uh, doesn't that mean profit?
Non-profits are educators trying to run a business. Fopros are businesses trying to edcuate.
Neither is holier than the other in my book.
Both have something to learn from one another is what I think.
What do you think?
