According to this chart by Samuel Wood, 70% of all funds that a public non-profit college gets are from government grants, contracts and appropriations.
Let me see, the last chance I checked, the government got their money from, uh...taxes = you and me.
Private non-profit colleges get about 20% from you and me via taxes.
On the other hand fopros get NO MONEY from you and me via taxes, but rather pay into the system at a rate of about 10%. That means this $15 billion industry is contributing $150 million to the coffers of the non-profits who can't balance their own budgets.
Hmmm....let me see...do I want my taxes to keep going up so some government official can pour them into institutions that are bleeding bright red and STILL have to raise tuition and STILL canNOT balance their budget?
Or do I want to see fopros learn how to improve upon their models so they can be more efficient, turn profits into future and better programs, make more money so they can pay more taxes which might LOWER how much I have to pay?
Wow, now that's a tough decision to make, isn't it?
What do you think?
