When push comes to shove here might be the number one reason why profs at traditional universities don't like fopros*.
The fopros do NOT offer tenure to their professors.
What that means is the instructors in fopros have to keep working, making a contribution, growing in their field and showing up in classes to teach as opposed to turning classes over to student teachers, letting their research be done by lab rats and growing stale in their field.
Dare I say it - the profs job security is threatened - they cannot be guaranteed a position whether they do anything or not.
Like everyone else - they have to continue to perform or be replaced. Welcome to the real world!
I wish I could do or not do anything and still be guaranteed a job...but that doesn't fit in today's world, now does it?
It's, time to tell the profs!
Yo! Back to work!
What do you think?
