I have another observation about Samuel Wood's Samuel Wood's Chart .
According to the chart, the fopros spend about 23% of their resources recruiting and advertising for new students.
The last time I checked, that meant encouraging kids, adults and anyone else to get an education, try hard to learn and improve yourself so that you can be a better contributing member to society.
The non-profits spend - zip, zilch, nada on this effort. Hmm...
Well, the campus is pretty, the gym is nice and it is cheaper IF you can get in...why wouldn't people want to come?
Besides we pay our best professors to sit around so you can visit them during office hours when you can catch them. AND don't forget there is a HUGE library of books that nobody reads anymore, because you can find everything online now.
One type actively recruits students, many first generation higher ed students and tells them they can improve their lives; the other just sits and waits. One makes a profit; the other bleeds. Tough choice here.... What do you think?
