Institutions offering education for money is likened to the Red Cross trying to make a profit.
This is what George Keller reckons most traditional college professors, non-profit campus executives and many graduates think of the fopro movement.
A better method of running an institution is to beg alumni and other tycoons for gifts, search out grants and portions of the estates of passed on alumni, or ask taxpayers to dig deeper.
Many, most?, nearly all non-profit colleges run in the red and all have trouble keeping on budget.
Fopros make budget enough times or close.
There are about 3400 non-profit universities begging for money.
There are more fopros (profit-making, proprietary, post-secondary schools) in the US than there are non-profits...and they are on their own.
Hmmm...beg for money or make it on my own.
Operate in the red and keep in going....
Operate in the black or get out of the way.
Get paid whether my students are satisfied or not.
Get paid if my students are satisfied.
Which do you think makes more sense?
