I read recently about a Dean of a fopro who was quite pleased to have the authority to dismiss a professor/instructor who was accused of inappropriate language, extreme suggestiveness and even making propositions.
The man was released and sent packing with relatively no concern to due process.
I read of another case where an extremely competent instructor was accused wrongly by a begrudging student of some act of violence. A new administrator, hoping to make an impression also ignored due process and handled this veteran instructor in a totally inappropriate way.
There is administrative freedom in fopros, but due process ought not be tossed out just because a boss is a boss is a boss.
There are lessons to be learned from and by each side of the camp.
How about let's get both sides together and compare notes rather than sit on opposite sides of the room and point fingers?
What do you think?
