Gender Gap Grows in Higher Ed

The percentage of males going after an undergraduate degree has shrunk to 42% from 44% in 1999-2000.

The reason appears to be that more young women (under age 24) are going to school 52-55%...and the are smarter than their male counterparts....uh, maybe.

White women (54%) are more present than white men (46%).

Black women (60%) are more present than black men (40%). Let's see...yep, the numbers add up to 100.

Hispanic women (57%) are more present than Hispanic men (43$)...but, but...

Asian American Men and women are 50/50. Perhaps the Asia culture and its emphasis on education is applied equally to the kids, whereas in other families, the guy has to go to work or just plain can't keep up with the females around him.

Men are even MORE less represented in Fopros with just 38% attending.

The gender gap is equally great among older students with 62% of students over 25 being women.

At the doctoral level, men make up almost half - 46%.

In any event, it used to be that women went to school to get the MRS degree. Now it seems that if men are looking for a mate, the classroom is the place to go.
