Faculty members in fopros teach more. They may teach four to five to six classes x four hours per class each week, meaning they can have as much as 24 contact hours per week with the students.
Faculty members are released from research and they are not usually required to participate in faculty counsels - because there aren't any.
Nor do faculty members have to play the 'publish or perish' game.
Because each faculty member spends more time in front of students, effectively teaching more students, in costs less than in a traditional university to get the same job done.
This fact alone can drive profitability.
It does NOT, however, mean that quality of instruction suffers or that the courses are substandard. It could mean the opposite. The most qualified and knowledgable person is in front of the student.
For an educational institution to succeed, two things are important -
1. educational quality
2. student/customer service.
And, these are the goals of the fopros, no?
