Gee, what's new? Another university system is going to raise tuition so they can have more money to mismanage.
New Jersey claims that:
1. Spiking fuel costs - yep, they are the only ones who have been hit by this. The students have to pay more for fuel AND tuition. Sounds fair.
2. Rising cost of health insurance - chances are that most of their students don't even have health insurance. But, then they are saving money there, right?
3. Shrinking state aid - NJ may be growing tired of pouring money into a losing proposition. It's called "Balancing a Budget 101."
Undergraduate tuition will go up 4.3% to 9.3%.
New Jersey cut funding to the college system to fill its own budget hole.
But, one wonders, why would NJ officials think that the colleges could get by on less money?
Non-profits need to go back to school and learn how to balance their own budgets.
What do you think?
