Top Ten Faculties - Middlebury College Ranked 1st - Reed College Wins in My Book

I would like to know what these schools think is so great about their professors such that they think those profs are the best.

What makes a good prof? Enthusiastic? Knowledgeable? Accessible? Can relate?

In any event, according to the Princeton Review these students think their professors are the best thing since sliced bread.

1.  Middlebury College - in the top ten best overall academic experiences

2.  Williams College - in the top ten best overall academic experiences

3.  Pitzer College

4.  Washington and Lee University

5.  Wellesley College - in the top ten best overall academic experiences

6.  Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering

7.  Reed Colege - their profs make them study but they are still loved - interesting mix...also in the top ten best academic experiences

8.  Marlboro College - their profs make them work like dogs, but they are still loved.

9.  Sewanee - University of the South

10. Harvey Mudd College  - even the students say they never stop studying, they love their profs.

My hat is off to Reed College. They think their profs are the best in the business despite the fact they are given so much work to do they are in the top ten schools that NEVER STOP studying AND they consider their academic experience one of the best in the nation.

'Reedies' say they are so determined to be different from the norm that they all end up being different in the same way.... The college may be one of the best...but that doesn't mean the students are tops, does it?

What do you think?

I attended Middlebury, and I would rank it very high as well. It's not any one particular factor, but rather the overall environment...it's friendly, there isn't a lot of bureaucracy, the professors are competent and easily accessable, the campus is beautiful and the dorms and classrooms are comfortable, the curricula are engaging, and so forth. But I think the reason it ranks so high isn't really the positives, but the lack of negatives...a lot of the annoyances I've encountered with other colleges and universities just aren't prevalent at Middlebury.

Reedies are the best, but it's not so much due to our professors ;).
