
The story brought tears to my eyes. I have boys almost the same age, and one of them is in college now. I took him there about a month or so ago.
When I was in Japan I was often reminded of how America's gun laws and their lax nature. "Look! Anyone can kill anyone anytime."
Here is another example they will tell me.
I did some research on this. It seems that some 90% of murders by shooting are the results of organized crime or a family matter. The number may be a bit high, but I remember it being way over half.
The point being, you have to be very unlucky to get shot in the US by someone you don't know.
I used to tell my Japanese friends, "If you go to America, don't mess with organized crime and be sure to leave your family at home.
I really wish these two boys' dad had stayed at home.

Bill, I just spent a week with my precious daughter and son-in-law at Boston College and I share your sadness for these young men. What a reminder to run from guns and value people! When will we learn!
