The list changes when it comes to who has the smartest young people, except for the number one nation. Not only does Canada have the greatest percentage of four year college grads, they also have the greatest percentage of young people (ages 25-34) with at least a two year degree.
Here are the top ten countries with the most educated young people.
10. France - 37%
9. Spain - 38%
8. United States - 39% (This is the same percentage of four-year grads, leading me to think that kids who go to two-year schools go on to complete four-years)
7. Belgium - 39%
6. Sweden - 40%
5. Norway - 40%
4. Finland - 40% (the Scandinavian countries rule again.)
3. Korea - 47%
2. Japan - 52% (These two Asian countries have nearly half of their citizens with a two year degree - remarkable, no?)
1. Canada - 53% (Number one in both groups)
so, does Canada have the smartest population? I taught several groups of Canadians at a teacher's training school in upstate New York. Though limited in my experience, I found them quite diligent and hardworking, with a pinch of whining and griping thrown in.
But then what else is there to do up north, other than go to school?
What do you think?
