The Princeton Review rankings are a source of much debate, maybe even a few fist fights when the schools are neighbors. The book ranks schools in some 60+ different categories. The results are based on surveys given to those who should know best - the students who attend. And PR asked more than 115,000 such students.
This list addresses which school students think provide the best academic experience for undergraduates.
Here are the top ten in reverse order.
10. Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA
9. Williams College in Williamstown, MA
8. Haverford College in Haverford, PA
7. Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT
6. Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA
5. Reed College in Portland, OR
4. Columbia University in NYC
3. Rice University in Houston, TX
2. Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA
and
1. University of Chicago in Chicago.
What interests me is that Princeton, Harvard, MIT and the likes didn't even make the top ten. Princeton didn't even make the tope 20.
University of Chicago students love their learning experience.
According to PR, one student says "Chicago has a reputation for its antisocial, elitist student body."
It's a good thing that Chicago students like themselves and their schools, because apparently no one else does.
