Last month, the University of Phoenix passed up ALL US colleges and universities in population of students.
University of Phoenix now boasts a student population of 115,794, three times what it was just five years ago.
If the student body triples again in the next three year, it will have a student population equal to Cincinnati.
By some estimates, there are about 2 million online students who never step foot on a campus or meet a classmate or professor face to face.
And they are very fine, thank you.
Online campuses are growing. Grantham University, now a fully accredited university has grown 3000 percent in 10 years according to www.kansascity.com
Online schools do not have to fight state funding battles, the demands of tenured faculty and the costs of facilities.
Chances are quite high that more schools will grow like UoP and Grantham AND deliver quality education while doing so.
