The University of Wisconsin is planning to buy a diverse student population. Well, actually they are going to ask the students and their parents to foot the bill.
There is a plan to raise tuition over $1300 over the next three years so that they can offer support to low-income or underrepresented minority students.
Excuse me, but isn't that like asking those who can pay to pay for those who cannot? It smells like a socialism to me.
The school thinks everyone will learn because of the new increased diversity in the student and faculty bodies.
The pinch comes because Wisconsin state has reduced state support to the UW system by $250 million in the past three years. So, the money has to come from somehwere, eh?
Is it any surprise that Wisconsin higher ed institutions cannot balance their budget either?
$250 million is peanuts to a Harvard or Stanford that has umpteen billion dollars in endowments....why not hit them up for the bill?
Better yet, why not learn to balance your school budgets, Wisconsin.
What a stupid idea!
What do you think?
