Princeton Review publishes a smart student guide to colleges with its pick of the 361 best colleges. For me, one of the most interesting and almost equally enlightening part can be found in the back of the book.
Here are 5 literary illusions gleaned by PR from responses given in narrative form to PR's survey. Please note the university from which these amazing students hail.
1. "To study at this school is to have infinite control over your destiny. You can crouch in your room like Gregor Samsa transformed into a dung beetle, or you can plunge into the infinite sea of faces that each year flood OSU like a tidal wave." That is Ohio State U.
2. "Two Jokes about St. John's college students: 1. Q: How many Johnnies does it take to change a light bulb? A: Let's define change before we go any further. Q: What did the Chorus say to Creaon after Oedipus poked out his eyes? A: Now that's a face only a mother could love." From St. John's College
3. "Very definitely a love/hate realtionship here. This is the level of hell that Dante missed." Caltech.
4. "The Deep Springs experience is like workin in an atrophy factory. Much of what you do in labor and government is fixing, improving, or replacing what came before you. No matter what frame of reference you use -- daily, monthly or yearly -- you still feel like Sisyphus. The joy and value comes in building your muscles on so many different rocks." Deep Springs College.
5. "Lewd quotes on the bathroom walls at least come from great authors." A Bard College Student.
And to think, that some imagine the well of creative writing someday drying up. Won't happen. Not with these whizzes at the keyboard.
What do you think?

Hi,
I like these a lot. The Princeton Review is known for its alternative take on education. Would you mind if I added them to my blog, since they come from an outside source? Also, do you know whether the St. John's mentioned is the one in Queens, New York? There are a number of universities called "St. Johns." Also, because you have some really interesting education info, can I add a link on my blog to yours?
Thanks,
Alan
