Lawyers trying to defend the bogus operation of diploma mills using the names, St. Regis University, James Monroe University and Robertstown University claim that as many as 135 government employees bought college or university degrees in hopes of getting a promotion or a pay raise.
The ringleaders of the diploma mills are charged with wire and mail fraud and laundering almost $2 million AND receipt of child pornography.![]()
Holy smokes!
The webmaster for the operation has already pleaded guilty to conspiracy and will provide evidence against the rest.
Some 125 web sites for sales of fraudulent college and high school degrees were set up worldwide.
Here is an example of one such site that steers online searchers toward these mills.
But what defense is it that 135 government employees were deceived? Leave it to a lawyer to bring up such a ridiculous argument.
What do you think
