Corinthian Colleges is facing a probe that could cause them to shut their doors.
Corinthian Colleges is accused of inflating the number of graduates finding jobs. If it is found to be true, the school chain could be forced to call it a day as well as pay fines and other penalties.
The college has about 65,000 students attending 131 schools in the US and Canada. The school claims that about 82% of its grads got jobs last year, up from 79% the year before.
There are some 1,500 training schools in CA with around 400,000 students...all facing scrutiny.
Corinthian has faced probes by law suits from students over lies about transferable credits, violation of loan application rules in San Jose (abt. 1/2 mile from my home) and this past week, the SEC said it was reviewing Corinthian's option grants.
If misery really does love company, Career Education Corporation will surely welcome the attention that Corinthian Colleges is getting.
The school says they are cooperating with the investigation. We'll see...we'll see.
