
The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a tax exempt entity despite the 100s of millions of dollars it generates and disperses.
That may change.
The chairman of the US House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee has sent the NCAA a letter asking them to explain themselves.
One of the 25 questions in the report
"How does playing major college football or men's basketball in a highly commercialized, profit-seeking, entertaining environment further the educational purpose of your member's institutions?"
Yeah! I'd like to know that, too.
The letter also addresses NCAA's finances, educational mission, coaches compensation and the lack of serious academic abilityh of many of the athlete's involved.
The president of the NCAA has till the end of this month - October, to respond.
It is about time someone held the NCAA accountable.
