There were two incidents where students let loose with guns on campuses - one in Montreal and the other in Pittsburg - in the past week.
20 students were shot at Dawson College in Montreal. One was killed before the shooter took his own life.
At Duquesne 5 basketball players were shot - none died, but three are in critical condition.
This kind of crime is not something we hear about often. Hearing about it even once is too much. I wrote last week about a father who travelled to college to see his two boys, shot them to death and then took his own life.
It is important to have qualified security on campuses - not fat guys with billy clubs that they can't get off their belts. But, then, how much fun is it to go to school with police-types monitoring the hallways?
I don't know the answer and I wish I did. I have a son who is a junior at a university in the MidWest.
So, what are the most common crimes on campus?
1. Alcohol related
2. Drug related
3. Relationship related - fighting, etc.
4. Theft
5. Sexual Assaults
Hang on. I want to call my kid and ask him to come home.
