Bless the hearts of the givers, the school reached that goal two years ahead of schedule.
The monies were used to build the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Johns Hopkins Malaria Institute, the Johns Hopkins Heart Institute, the Institute for Cell Engineering, and the Genetics and Public Policy Center.
A physcial transformation of the Peabody Institute campus took place.
New academic programs were set in motion.
Research initiatives on all sorts of issues were happened.
And then the school said - 'Can we have more?!'
Johns Hopkins upped their goal by another $900 million....for student financial aid ($100 mil), facilities ($150 mil), faculty support ($100 mil), research support and academic programs ($500 mil) and $50 mil for whatever they please (unrestricted use it was called.)
Do I smell greed? and envy?
Does Johns Hopkins want to join Columbia, Cornell, Stanford, University of Virginia and Yale in the $3 billion club?
Are these universities money pits or what? But then, which is worse - a school asking for so much money or people giving it to them?
What do you think?
