Covering the business of education and training

The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada is the voice of Canada's universities, representing 91 Canadian public and private not-for-profit universities and university-degree level colleges.

After fall fiscal and economic data was released, the organization responded with praise.

1. "The federal government clearly recognizes that a highly educated workforce and investments in research and innovation are fundamental to economic growth."

2. "The university association says the government's commitment to continued investments for basic or primary research is vital for the future."

3. "Support pledged for graduate scholarships, research equipment and facilities, and attracting foreign students to Canada's universities is also welcome."

4. "The government's pledge in the Advantage Canada strategy to create the best-educated, most skilled and most flexible workforce in the world."

Canada already may boast of having the most educated population in the world with 53% of its citizens with at least a two year degree

No doubt, a lot has to do with the commitment and follow-through of the government.
