"The AAUP's Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure notes with great concern the recent action of the Israeli army to ban Palestinian students from Israeli universities for security reasons, except for the small number of Palestinian students who were given permission to attend Israeli universities before 2002."
The Israeli army responded by ...well, they didn't respond.
Why should the Israeli army care what the AAUP thinks?
It's wrong for univeristies to close their doors to qualified students....no matter what.
It is like countries boycotting Olympics in my book.
But, it is also presumptuous for a group of stuffy professors to issue a statement from the security of their meeting room and expect armies on other side of the world to care.
Why don't the members of this committee get up, buy a ticket, travel to Israel, meet with army staff, univeristy admins and prospective students and then come issue a statement.
More people might care then.
What do you think?
