Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Courses - Who is taking them
The National Center for Education statistics released a report on an overview of the transcipts from the high school graduating class of 2003-04.

Some of the findings-

Overall 30% of high school grads earned credit in AP or IB courses.

About 12% earned credit in mathematics.

33% of females earned AP/IB credit compared to 27% for males.advanced placement.jpg

53% of Asians, 33% of whites, 25% of Hispanics and 16% of Blacks earned AP/IB credits.

38% of students in Catholic schools; 42% of other private school students; and 29% of public school students earned AP credits.

Let me see, if I want my student to have a good chance at a AP courses, they should be Asian female and enrolled in a private school. Hmm...

What do you think?
