Gallaudet's Board succumbed to student body protests, sometimes violent, by rescinding an offer to a new president.
The 20-member board is now 18 members.
While, I think that the board did the wrong thing in bowing to the students...students do not run colleges, boards do...I think it is yet
I don't know if McCain and the Chair had other unspoke reasons for leaving, but if it simply because their other board members cowered to the student body and made the wrong decision, then McCain and the exiting chair are doing a differnt kind of coward.
The exiting chair said, "I do not believe I can be the most effective member of the board to lead through the next steps." Now is the time for a true test of leadership.
McCain said, "I cannot in goo conscience continue to serve the board after its decision." But can he leave them in good conscience to go on making bad decisions?
Well, at least we know now who are NOT leaders at Gallaudet, eh?
What do you think?
