I used to like football...until I went to Japan and lost touch with who is who and such.
Now that I am back, I realize the only thing I have missed is the escalating salaries and imbalance of athletics and academics.
There is nothing wrong with a man or woman getting paid for the job they do. But how can public schools constantly beg tax payers for money and afford to pour this kind of money into their sports programs?
How can sports programs generate so much income (profit) at non-profit institutions? How about taxing the snot out of these programs and putting those taxes back into the schools academic side?
Arizona has a 12-year $80 million deal with Host Communications.
Tennessee has a 10-year $83 million deal with Host.
Kentucky has a 10-year $80 million deal.
California has a 10-year $40 million deal.
Uh, there is a lot of money going into our public schools, and its not into academics. Something is wrong with this picture?
