The students were asked to do an assignment in which they were to draft and individually sign a letter to law makers in Missouri in support of the right for gay people to be foster parents.
One student refused, saying the assignment went against her faith as a Christian.
Okay, call the girl prejudiced, bigoted if you like.
Why is it okay for some people to BELIEVE it is okay for gays to foster parents and it is not okay for others to BELIEVE it is not?
Were a gay student forced to sign a petition written by a church group in opposition to gay parenthood, would that be acceptable?
How can a professor/s force students and a college discipline students for what they believe and having the strength to stick to their convictions?
Worse yet...they have the lawyers involved seeking punitive damages saying, "it's not about the money, it's about setting a precedent."
Yeah, right.
The assignment was shelved...but it's too late to get the lawyers to leave it alone.
What do you think?
