The Southern Oregon Prez is responding by letting the professors, tenured and tenure track that they may be among the cuts that need to take place.
The school has more students but they are taking less credit-hours meaning the school gets less money from the state.
Last year the school had to dip into its state mandated 5% of revenue
The president says that higher enrollment cannot solve the problem...expenses must be adjusted.
If the tenured profs and tenure-track profs are delivering a product that students are willing to pay enough for, then they ought to be kept around. Otherwise, it's pretty simple - supply and demand.
Kudos to the SOU president for having the courage to go up against the faculty instead of taking it out on students' and their parents' pocketbooks.
