
About 112 of 853 public and private university president say their pay and benefits total more than half a million dollars.
And, these results are based on the 2004-2005 academic year.
The median pay for all 853 presidents was $374,846.
Number 1 - Retired president of Wilmington College in Delaware - $2.7 million
2. Retired president of Lynn University in Boca Raton - $1.3 million
3. President of Vanderbilt - $1.2 million.
The top paid president of public universities was
1. President of the University of Delaware - $979.571 in pay and benefits. Little state with big salaries.
The top paid Ivy League School President
1. Cornell University prez - $1 million
Harvard's outgoing prez made $595,871. Dartmouth's prez makes $479.233.
And, don't forget - the average division I NCAA football coach makes $950,000 + perks,
“Presidents now are C.E.O.’s,” he said. “You no longer have treasurers, you have chief financial officers; you no longer have deans, you have chief academic officers. Faculty play the role of labor, students play the role of customer.”
Gee...and if the for profits were to take that attitude, what would he say?
And if they are CEOs, why can't they balance the budgets?
