It can cost an international student $30-70k a year to study, live, spend, invite family, and so on. With a half million international students in the U.S. that equals a lot of money - around $13.5 billion.
Some states seem to be more accomodating to international students, thus benefiting from the money they bring.
The top ten states accepting international students are:
# 1 California remains the leading host state for international students (75,385, up less than 1%),
# 2 New York (64,283, up 4%),
# 3 Texas (46,869, down 1%),
# 4 Massachusetts (28,007, up less than 1%),
# 5 Florida (26,058, down less than 1%),
# 6 Illinois
# 7 Pennsylvania,
# 8 Michigan,
# 9 Ohio,
#10 Indiana.
The top five states are host to nearly half of all international students in the U.S.
There is a reason why CA is so diverse. It starts with the students in her colleges and universities.
