Needless to say, it is good business...big business for higher ed institutions to have as many international students as possible.
Some colleges and universities seem to be better at recruiting and admitting foreign students than others.
Here are the top ten.
#1 For the fifth year in a row, the University of Southern California is the leading host institution (6,881).
#2 Columbia University hosts the second highest number of foreign
#3 Purdue University (5,540),
#4 New York University (5,502)
#5 University of Texas at Austin (5,395),
#6 University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (4,904),
#7 University of Michigan - Ann Arbor (4,649),
#8 Boston University (4,542),
#9 Ohio State University (4,476),
#10 Buffalo (4,072)...if the kids knew what they were getting into here, they would certainly reconsider.
These 10 institutions accept about 10% of all the international students who come to the U.S. Not bad, considering there are several thousand colleges who would like to do the same.
Let's see - USC charges $30k plus for tuition and what not. $30K x 6,881 students = good business.
