
The group has learned:
1. Tenure rates are not decreasing - though only 34% of those who start on a tenure track, actually, get promoted.
2. There is an increased demand for publication on candidates for tenure
3. Junior faculty members are rising to the ever-growing demands.
4. Despite a decrease in scholarly presses, there is no lack of publishing venues
5. There is still more emphasis on scholarship over teaching and service in departments
6. Tenure denials have not increased
It seems 'publish or perish' is alive and well. And, no matter how bad it is, the jr. profs are still busting their tails to earn it.
That's too bad.
