The prof taught 'directed reading' course that did not require classroom attendance. And the outcome was usually an "A," whether deserved or not.
In fact, it seems the whole sociology department can be a bit 'friendly' when it comes to dealing with athletes.
One student had a grade changed from an "I" to an "A" without the professor's
consent, seemingly to bring the student's overall grade average about 2.0 and to remain eligible for his scholarship.The 'directed reading' prof is gone. And the unknowing professor found out about the grade change three years AFTER the fact.
My question: How do things get this far gone? Where were the internal audits, the checks and balances and such?
How can a grade go changed for three years and no one know? How can a professor continually pass students for doing nothing?
Does this give us some insight into why schools can't balance the fiscal budget either?
