San Jose State will play New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl Game. Each team will take home an amount too big to be specified...that will make no difference to the average student's tuition costs.
What I learned today were a few more important numbers...the graduation rates of the students in the games.
San Jose State will graduate 32% of its football players - 35% of its African American football players. Compare that to a 56% overall student-athlete graduation.
New Mexico will graduate 43% of it football players and 42% of its black players compared to a 58% overall graduation rate.
San Jose State might be fielding the dumbest team in all bowl games.
What's up with football players?
Nothing perhaps, as long as they can bring home money.
