Mark Twain said he would like to be in Cincinnati when the world ends, "because everything happens a week later there."
Not any more.
Apparently a heart surgeon at UC has been experimenting with a heart device that has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Consequently, the FDA has sent him a letter of warning.
The real problem is not that the prof is out on a limb trying to save people...the surgeon is said to be a 'very strong' supporter of Atricure, has stock options in the company, has received royalties and consulting payments.
Gee, I wonder why the prof wants so hard for this device to work, don't you?
A serious conflict of interest....that ends in a warning letter?
That's all?
What do you think?
