If this doesn't make your heart sick...then what does?
I have a 21-year old and a 24-year old, that this pretty little overachiever fits in nicely, by age, between.
However, te young lady apparently commited suicide, though finding her body in the trunk of her car leaves some question.
There is no indication of a suicide note.
Her death was the second in a month, and fifth in 18 months at Stanford.![]()
One would think, that the kids there would be all happy and gungho.
Not so.
The Jed Foundation says that 3 students take their life EVERY DAY in America....though this is just half the number of kids in this age group that are not in college.
Still....3!? Every day?!
A UC Berkeley study says that about half (45%) of a sample of grad students admitted to being stressed.
10% of the same group had considered suicide within the past year. I don't know about the sample group. 45% seems normal, but 10% seems particularly high.
Suicide is the second cause of death in Asian-American girls in their 20s.
A shrink at San Jose State University suggests they are in careers chosen by their parents that are not suitable.
The Stanford girl's father says she was working on her resume...and she was in her second year of her doctoral program, when things are relatively easier.
He asks, "Why would she take her life?"
But then we want to know, who would take it?
What do you think?

I remember reading this on an news article. I think it's unfortunate that some parents dictate what their child should do. I personally know a few people who have their parents make decisions for them on where to go and what to do. I guess the only way is for the the younger generation to become the parents with different philosophies.
