
More than 1.28 million people registered to take the postgraduate qualification exam this year, up just 7,000 over last year.
A Ministry of Education official says the 'cool down' is a result of students realizing they should go to work sooner rather than later...going on to school forever and ever is not rational.
An MOE spokeman said the slight increase this year was a result of better career guidance for students at universities and students being encouraged to gain skills through first-hand work BEFORE going onto a higher education.
More than 5 million students will graduate this year in China and job opportunities are close to capacity.
They have three choices:
1. Start their own business
2. Head west to less-developed parts of China
3. Uh...continue studying...or not.
