Covering the business of education and training

Parents say to go to college to become a contributing member of society. But...do parents know that colleges contribute NOTHING to helping students understand America, its history, government, foreign affairs and economy.

College seniors at 50 different colleges took an Amerian literacy exam that covered those four areas.

Overall the students scored - 53.2%. That's an F...even if curbed.

American History - 58.5% - F

Government - 51.4% - F

America and the World - 51.5% - F

Market Economy - 50.5% - F

Worse yet...the students did almost that well when they were freshmen.

American history grades saw an improvement of just 1.5%

Government - improved 0.2%!!??

America and the world - increased by 1.7%

Market Economy - up 3.5%

So, what in the world are students in college learning? Social skills? Internet surfing? Beer drinking? Teamwork?

American colleges flunked a serious test here.
