It's not meant to be funny. The boy was only 21-years old. I have a 20 year old who is also on an athletic scholarship.
It's sad. It's disheartening.
There are no signs of foul play or stupidity. It doesn't seem he fell off or jumped off.
The body was discovered by someone flying a model airplane...not too close to the edge.
The boy missed only two field goals in two years at USC and was 127 of 134 in extra points.
He had two field goals in the 2007 Rose Bowl. He was also USC's leading scorer this year.
Why would he jump?
What I am reminded of is the brevity of life...not knowing when horrible events or blessings might come to visit.
"I just remember Mario was the guy who always had a smile on his face and would always cheer you up," said a USC team captain.
I just remembered how much I love my boy and to call him and tell him to be careful, always.
