Wis-dumb, wisdumb...they are the same to me. The term came to me last night when I was sleeping or awake or somewhere in between. Maybe it was at the gym...a couple of days ago...I can't remember.
I have been doing and will continue a series of posts on great quotes that have influenced my life...I have many more.
While digging through my file of quotes I found some other quotes that over the course of time have proven to be pretty dumb, outright stupid in fact.
In the spirit of trying to add to the pool of knowledge, in the name of education, in the name of passing on traditions and insights and well...hopefully, you get the idea...people trying to say wise things, to do wise things, to contribute to the ages of accumulated wisdom, (Confucious, Twain, Jesus, MLK Jr...) often give us the opposite. Additionally, people are still saying these things.
But what's really scary is that, we, I, can learn from these words of wisdumb
It's kind of like when Thomas Edison was accused of failing at 50,000 experiments.
He replied, "I didn't fail at 50,000 experiments. I learned 50,000 things that don't work."
Learning was is NOT wise is a step in gaining wisdom. No?
A not so complete search of yahoo, google and the likes, I find that others have stumbled upon/created independently this same term.
Here are couple -
But they are not quite, acutally not even close, to what I have in mind.
Over the course of time, the reader will learn what I mean by Words of Wisdumb.
I also, heartily, welcome your contributions to future annals of wisdumb.
Hopefully it will be something you found, NOT something you did...though that is okay, too.
Post the link here in the comments or email them to me at bill at panasianbiz dot com .
Let's learn, accumulate knowledge and true wisdom.
