1. I (the student) promise to answer your questions with more than one word.
2. I promise to be too anxious, too busy, and to not have time to discuss life's issues in great details, my girlfriend or not, my boyfriend or not,
3. I promise to listen to you, though it won't mean I will always abide by your suggestions.
4. I promise to value your perspective because you have experience, but may go ahead and make my own mistakes anyway.
5. I promise to appreciate your help, the extra funds you send, your unsolicited offers to read my essays, your overprotectiveness...even I don't say so but I wish you wouldn't do too much, unless I tell you I really need you.
6. I promise to stay in touch - by phone, by e-mail, by visiting home. Can I bring my laundry?
7. I promise to do my best at keeping within the budget we have decided upon.
8. I promise to not embarrass you by doing things I already know are stupid - drugs, drinking, skipping class, speeding, shacking up....
9. I promise to represent you and all the values you taught me in my classes, at social gatherings, with my friends, their parents, my teachers.
10. I promise to finish what I start.
What other promises do you want your student to make?
What have you promised your parent?

Come on...
I'd take this more seriously if you could spell 'except'....
No wait...I wouldn't. Did you go to college? What the hell is this page? Is it a joke?
