Research from the U.S. Department of Commerce makes it pretty clear that educational, financial and social inequality between blacks and non-Hispanic whites is going to continue to grow.
Less than half (45.8%) of black children ages 3-17 have computers in their home.
More than 81% of non-Hispanic whites and Asian-American children have
computers.
Less than one-fourth (24.7%) of blacks have internet access at home.
More than twice as many (50%+) whites have access.
The Internet, of course, is not the only avenue for study and growth, but it does give a huge advantage.
Whites are far ahead already and they are likely to stay ahead, even stretch the gap considerably.
What can be done?
What do you think?

Why does it always have to be a black/white issue? Is being white the racial benchmark? What I would like to know is what is the gap between all the other 'races'? Also, why were whites and Asians paired together in this data? What is the gap between whites and Asians? It is this kind of slanted reporting that does nothing but agitate people.
