Even before the scandal went public, the 65-year old went missing.
All things considered...taking one's life is NOT the answer to wrongdoing. Stepping forward, accepting responsibility and the punishment that comes with it is.
Doubly unfortunate is that this man was a school leader.
How will kids think they should react when they are caught doing something wrong?
Maybe I don't read enough about suicides in other countries or maybe I just read too much on Japan...but it seems to me that too many people take the suicide route in the land of the Rising Sun.
My wife said something interesting..."If a person has enough courage to take their own life, they should have enough courage to keep on living it."
What do you think?

I agree, it is unfortunate. However, the issue is cultural. Most Asian countries take the matter of honor very seriously. When one's honor is tarnished, it is acceptable (in their culture) to end one's life. Maybe if our society had been indoctrinated with this deep of a conviction for one's honor, we may not be such a scandalous society. Don't get me wrong, I am not promoting suicide. I am promoting a deeper sense of value.
