The Chinese Ministry of Education is sending teams to nine provinces to make sure money goes where money should go...for the education of students in the poor rural areas.
China will exempt all students in rural areas from school fees beginning this spring for the entire nine years of compulsory education.
The special team will make sure students are not overcharged and that teachers' salaries are up to par with local civil servants.![]()
There's an interesting thought...pay teachers a wage equal or better than others, based on the salaries of civil workers.
If teachers made more money, more qualified and more desirable people would take up the task, no?
But, then...who would pay for it? Beijing is making money. Other deficit running countries don't have that luxury.
What do you think?

I think that this will be like so many other things Beijing aspires to do in that it will not happen. I think that the goal here is to keep on lid on rural protests and that when that is not to be gained, not much will occur. Sorry for being so cynical here. I am bullish on China, just not on things like this.
