His son is a freshman on the West Virginia University Mountaineer Basketball team.
Jerry West and his wife, Karen, have given a third gift, $800,000, to his alma mater, WVU, this time to build a new study area for athletes.

West, normally not one to toot his own horn, said he made the announcement this time in hopes that others would be encouraged to do likewise.
There are an awful lot of people, make that professional athletes, who could spare a million dollars to build a study-hall for athletes at their alma maters.
Problem is, most of them wonder, what is a study hall?
Kudos to Jerry West for knowing and doing something about it.
What do you think?
