I mean, good grief, if they graduated all their kids and sent them off to society like their faculty peers, then give them a salary equal to the professors of equal longevity. $100K-150K. No more.
This coach...a woman's basketball coach, might be worth a million, if not literally, then most certainly figuratively.
65-year old Kay Yow collapsed during practice. She couldn't stay nourished because of sores in her mouth, the side effects of chemotherapy drugs for breast cancer.
Flat on her back as she was being wheeled to the hospital, she commented on her charges, "The players are really talking to each other, really communicating, aren't they?"
Pain medication, antibiotics and nutrients were pumped in to a preexisting port in her chest.
The next day her team, North Carolina State was playing arch rival North Carolina. She headed first to the clinic where she was hooked up to an IV for six hours more hours.
She went home, had some soup, and then to the field house to that they were naming after her.
The non-ranked Wolfpack had their work cut out for them against the number two ranked Tar Heels.
Yow chose the bench to sit and give encouragement/instructions to the team. The Wolfpack won 72-65.
Kay Yow, however, is the real winner. Loving her kids, instructing them, motivating them when she is at her worst.
She is indeed worth a million. However, that wouldn't likely pay her doctor's bills. So, lets' make it two.
