In an effort to teach what taking risks mean, the first year graduate student was given the option of receiving $5,679 or picking from two briefcases, one containing $17,500, enough to cover his tuition for one year.
He chose the wrong briefcase and went away with nothing but his sword.
"I started from nothing, so I didn't lose anything," said the student.
If he really wanted to know risk, give him something of his own to lose in his decision.
The profs in charge said the experiment was to learn how prospective managers react to risk.
I think they could come up with a better experiment than that.
What's the biggest risk you have ever taken?
