The Gordon and Mary Cain Foundation of Texas will give $100 million to the John Motley Morehard Foundation so that they can, in turn, give it away as full-scholarships to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The Morehead Foundation has helped develop more than 2,600 young leaders, now living in 48 of the 50 states and in 24 countries globally.

Pulitzer Prize-winner; U.S. Congressmen; Wachovia CEO; N.C. Attorney General; CEO of Habitat for Humanity International; Head of Global Wealth Management for Citigroup; Former mayor of Charlotte and candidate for N.C. Governor; Head of the Human Genome Project; Los Angeles attorney and the first African American woman to win a Rhodes Scholarship are among notable alumni of Morehead.

Morehead awards 50 full scholarships each year and has a goal of 75 each year, or 2% of the undergraduate student body.

It is remarkable what a difference people with money can make when they give to educate others.
