Many of the teachers in the Houston Independent School District have their underwear tied in knots.
Some got bonuses and others didn't. Some got huge bonuses and other apparently deserving educators got zilch.
The whole rewarding teachers because their students do well is rife with problems in itself. What's to keep a teacher from giving students higher grades just so their charges look to have done better?
But that is a whole different discussion. ![]()
What struck me as particularly wisdumb was the response of the teachers...
"Some people are so angry over the district's performance-pay plan that they are encouraging teachers to call in sick in protest."
Well, that will teach the kids a lesson. If you don't get what you want, lie about your physical condition in protest. Stay home and pout.
If the skipping protestors are the ones who feel slighted by their bonus, lack of, or amount, then it becomes very apparent why they got or didn't get what came to them.
What do you think?
