IBM fired a guy for visiting "an Internet chat room for a sexual experience during work after he had been previously warned."
The man responded with these words of wisdumb, "I was tempting myself to perhaps become involved in some titillating conversation."
Apparently the guy had logged on a sex chat site during a break and then was called away but had forgot to log out.![]()
A co-worker saw what he was doing, turned him in, and the 19-year IBM veteran was fired the next day.
The IBM veteran was also a Vietnam Veteran and claims, "he visits chat rooms to treat traumatic stress incurred in 1969 when he saw his best friend killed during an Army patrol in Vietnam."
Wasn't there an episode on Grey's Anatomy about this guy?
If the 58-year old worker could have stuck it out (his job...his job...) for one more year, he could have retired and surfed the Net at home until he was ...well...whatever.
Should a company offer programs to sex addicts the way it does for alcohol, drugs and other psychological illnesses?
